From the beginning, Anwar Ibrahim has accused the government of Dr. Mahathir of conspiracy charges against him. When he felt his influence in UMNO and BN waning, he accused everyone else of conspiring to bring him down. And when the case of sodomy was brought against him, he again accused everybody of a huge conspiracy against him.
Between Dr. Mahathir and Anwar, when it comes to credibility, I would stake all on Dr. Mahathir. Anwar Ibrahim is a charlatan who uses to his advantage his oratorial skills and his experience in organizing demonstrations to tarnish the Government. But other than that he has not much else to his credit.
In the New Strait Times yesterday, 13 Ogos 2009, Dr. Munawar Ahmad Anis, former speech writer of Anwar failed again to clear his name of his sodomy charge.
A Court of Appeal panel, comprising Datuk Wira Low Hop Bing, Datuk Hasan Lah and Datuk Sulaiman Daud, yesterday unanimously dismissed his application on the grounds that the issues raised had been considered by the Federal Court.
With the decision, the conviction against Dr. Munawar, 61, who served six months in prison in 1998 after he pleaded guilty to allowing Anwar to sodomise him in Anwar’s house in Jalan Setia Murni 1, Bukit Damansara, in Marc 1993, is affirmed.
We must not forget Anwar is also a great actor. Remember when he was detained under ISA, how he portrayed himself as wheelchair bound with a stiff neck brace to gain everybody’s sympathy. But in a by-election sometime back he was already dancing on the stage.
Anwar Ibrahim is only delaying the inevitable. But of course, he can be saved, if his succeeds to become Prime Minister of Malaysia. God Forbid.
